William Faulkner is one of the most well-known writers from the American South. He is best known for his novels that focus on the fictional Yoknapatawpha County in Mississippi

William Faulkner was born on September 25, 1897 and died July 6, 1962. Faulkner wrote about the southern united states, specifically his home state of Mississippi. He wrote about topics surrounding the south and its history, including slavery and racism. He won many awards for his works, including two Pulitzer prizess, two national book awards, and a Nobel Prize in Literature. Faulker's most well-known works include The Sound and The Fury (1929), As I Lay Dying (1930), Light in August (1932), Absalom, Absalom (1936), The Unvanquished (1938),and Go Down, Moses (1942).
