Charles Dickens

As a child and young adult, Dickens' health was poor, and he suffered from many illnesses including rheumatic fever and tuberculosis. It's believed that these illnesses may have contributed to his death at age 58 in 1870. During his lifetime, Charles Dickens wrote 19 novels as well as many short stories, essays, poems and letters for publication as well as speeches for public appearances. Two of his well-known works are "A Tale of Two Cities" and "Great Expectations". Additionally, "The Muppet Christmas Carol" is a film adaptation of Dickens' famous novella, "A Christmas Carol". His writing style is considered unique among other Victorian writers because it is so descriptive and detailed that readers can actually see what he describes in their minds' eyes—something that has made his stories so popular over time!
