Victor Hugo is one of the most well-known French poets, novelists, essayists, playwrights, and dramatists. He is best known for his novels such as Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris.

Victor Hugo is a French poet, novelist, essayist, playwright, and dramatist. He is considered to be one of the greatest French writers. Victor Hugo was born on February 26th 1802 in Besançon. His father was a general in Napoléon’s army who died when he was five years old and his mother died when he was eight years old. After this tragedy, he went to live with his aunt and uncle in Paris. He attended school at the Collège Henri IV where he studied for a law degree which he never completed. Victor Hugo primarily wrote poems and novels but also wrote about politics and society as well as plays for the theatre. His most famous novel is Les Misérables.
